Cory Booker just came out and nobody cares

In the clip, an activist asks Booker how he plans to protect the rights of those “who can’t live their truth,” specifically referencing trans individuals and the broader LGBTQ community. Booker, without hesitation, aligned himself with them, using phrases like “we” and stating, “This is not a costume. This is who I am.” In any other time, this would have been interpreted as a high-profile coming out. But in a country worn out by identity politics, the moment landed flat.

Booker attempted to portray himself as a warrior against so-called bullies of the LGBTQ community, invoking historical figures like Harvey Milk and the Stonewall riots. He claimed being himself “puts him in danger,” as if he were a political dissident in a totalitarian regime rather than a sitting U.S. senator with taxpayer-funded security and endless media coverage.

But Booker's real problem isn't just his sexual orientation. It’s the country’s exhaustion. Americans are tired of politicians who talk about everything except inflation, crime, education, or the border crisis. People want answers, not emotionally charged monologues about identity. If Booker thought this moment would catapult him to renewed national relevance, he miscalculated. The electorate has become numb to these “revelations.”

Worse yet is the cynical use of identity politics as a tool for political leverage. Booker isn’t alone. He’s part of a Democratic class that has replaced idea-based leadership with a competition over who is the most oppressed. It’s classic “look at me, I’m part of a minority too” politics.

And while he talks about “protecting trans rights” and “standing up to bullies,” everyday Americans are dealing with skyrocketing grocery bills, unsafe neighborhoods, and classrooms filled with ideology instead of arithmetic. The country is in crisis, and Booker’s response is a heartfelt clip about how being himself puts him at risk. It’s hard not to see this as a calculated distraction from his lack of real legislative results.

Perhaps most telling is that even within the progressive media, the reaction was crickets. No headlines. No trending topics. No celebrity endorsements. Nothing. That says everything. Even among his own allies, Booker is just another worn-out face of the Democratic establishment, desperately clinging to relevance through an identity narrative that no longer resonates with the masses.

Cory Booker just came out… and no one cares. Not even his own team.
