In John 9:3 Jesus is responding to his disciples' question about why a man was born blind. The disciples asked whether the man’s blindness was a result of his own sin or that of his parents. Jesus replies that neither is true. Instead, he suggests that the man’s blindness serves a purpose—that it is an opportunity for the works of God to be revealed through him.
