Trump teases progress on tariffs but warns China ‘has to make a deal’

President Trump took reporter questions from the Oval Office on April 22 and pushed back on claims that a prolonged US trade war with Beijing was unsustainable. The commander in chief said he would be “very nice” and wouldn’t engage in “hardball” trade negotiations with China, but warned “If they don't make a deal, we'll set the deal."
