Signs of the Times

From the album “TRUTH”.

Every few years, the signs go up.

Yards become battlegrounds.
Banners wave. Slogans flood the streets.
And we’re told this is democracy in action.

But what are we really choosing?

Campaigns are sold like products.
Candidates are brands.
The volume of the message often matters more than its truth.
And money—not merit—decides who’s heard.

We see names we recognize, faces that smile, voices that promise change.
But behind the ads and rallies, the system stays the same.

Loyal voters argue while the donors decide.
The script is already written.
The chairs just get rearranged.

Still, we vote—because we believe in choice.
Because we want to believe it still means something.

And maybe it does.
But when the signs come down, and the dust settles,
we’re left asking the same questions.
Was anything different?
Or just repackaged?

This song begins in that moment of quiet realization—
when the performance ends,
but the stage never changes.

This is not about cynicism.
It’s about seeing clearly.
This is Signs of the Times.
