Sea turtle gives scuba divers a magical experience in Mexico

This green turtle emerged from the blue and drifted casually toward a scuba diver as if it wanted to give her a good look at it. Serena is a seasoned scuba diver who has explored the waters of the Galapagos Islands, Cuba, Cayman Islands, Bahamas, Canada, and Belize. Serena is a young diver who loves all sea life. She has dived with fish of all sorts and sharks of various kinds, but her favorite of the sea creatures is sea turtles. In this amazing encounter, Serena is approached by a large and curious Green Turtle, a species found in the Caribbean. This dive took place in the waters near Akumal, Mexico, one of the few places where Green Turtles congregate in large numbers to feed on the sea grass.
This turtle calmly drifted right to Serena and then to her father who was filming the encounter. As the turtle got closer, Dave did his best to back away and create space, but the turtle seemed intent on looking them both right in the eye before making its way past them.
Turtles are majestic and peaceful, and a delight to see on any dive. Having one choose to provide such a close encounter is a truly magical experience.
