Hell of a Summer - A Slasher/Comedy That Works Despite Itself

Hell of a Summer is a fun, low-budget slasher that knows exactly what it is and doesn't pretend otherwise. While it lacks depth in character, story, and on-screen kills, it still manages to entertain with charm and confidence. The plot follows a group of camp counselors being picked off by a masked killer (or two), hitting familiar tropes while embracing its own silliness. Despite some off-screen deaths and an obvious twist, the film delivers a tight, 88-minute runtime filled with serviceable acting, bloody aftermaths, and campy energy. It may not be a gourmet horror feast, but it's a satisfying junk-food snack for fans of the genre who know what they're signing up for.
