Pope Francis died today at the age of 88. The Vatican says the cause of death was a stroke, followed by a coma and irreversible cardio-circulatory collapse. World leaders — including President Trump — are mourning his passing, remembering him for his compassion, despite occasional disagreements.

Trade tensions between the U.S. and China are escalating again. Beijing is warning other nations against striking deals with the U.S., as President Trump accuses China of cheating and pledges to reach new agreements with Europe.

U.S.–Iran talks continue this Saturday for a third consecutive weekend. Presidential Envoy Steve Witkoff is expected to meet again with Iran’s foreign minister. Both sides say last weekend’s discussions were productive. Meanwhile, Iran’s Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi will visit China on Tuesday. During a trip to Moscow last week, Araghchi told state TV that Tehran always consults with its allies on the nuclear issue.
