Power Struggle in Georgia's 9th District: Tensions Over Party Control

In Georgia's staunchly Republican 9th District, a recent chairman forum in Fannin County underscored ongoing internal battles within the Georgia GOP. Josh McKoon, backed by Denise Burns, is pushing to consolidate control, particularly in the 14th District, while also targeting the 9th, 7th, and 11th Districts to steer the party away from the "MAGA" influence associated with former President Donald Trump. The choice of Dalton for the GOP convention addresses complaints about travel distances for North Georgia Republicans. Debbie Dooley supports Stephen Aaron, who opposes an accountability rule aimed at preventing Democrats from running as Republicans. If McKoon’s faction flips the 9th, 7th, and 11th Districts, it could significantly diminish the MAGA wing’s influence in Georgia’s Republican Party, reshaping its ideological direction.

In the state of GA we have the 9th district, the most republican district in GA and one of the most republican districts in the country. Last night the 9th district had a chairman forum in Fannin County. The 14th has been cornered by Josh McKoon with Denise Burns. The Trump effect can never happen again. BKP was not supposed to win the 1st Vice Chair in the GA GOP. BJ Van Gundy was supposed to win his third term. They picked Dalton for their convention. There was a complaint of North Georgia having to drive to Savannah and Columbus. They need the 14th district to come in for McKoon, MTG is doing this. He is trying to take the 9th, the 7th and the 11th.
Debbie did Josh call this in… Debbie Dooley is supporting Stephen Aaron. He is opposed to the accountability rule. We are tired of people checking off boxes and having democrats run as republicans.
If they flip the 9th district, the 7th and the 11th district they will have successfully de-MAGA the state.
