"The task of protecting the border of Russia is the task of the border service, the armed forces, and so on. Everyone has their own task. But how you, how your colleague perceives your duty to the Motherland - this is the most important thing. Thank you for this service," the president thanked.

Vladimir Putin also congratulated all the winners and laureates of the All-Russian Municipal Award "Service". The award ceremony was held as part of the second All-Russian Municipal Forum "Small Homeland - the Power of Russia". The forum is timed to coincide with Local Government Day, which is celebrated in our country on April 21.

"You are dedicating yourselves to a difficult, but very important cause. It is to you that people first turn to solve their everyday problems, it is with you that they associate hopes for tangible, necessary changes for the better. That is why work at the municipal level is both a huge responsibility and a real calling, and, I emphasize, the most important mission for the state, for our society, frankly speaking. This is truly a service, a mission," Vladimir Putin noted.

The President also stressed that the municipal level requires special professionalism and leadership skills.

"Good, competent, sensitive managers are needed everywhere, but perhaps especially at the municipal level. Obviously, this is the very first thing, the most correct thing: it is the municipal level that is closest to the people. And therefore, it is there that the most effective managers should appear. Here it is especially important to understand what you are working for, to follow the true essence of service, when the main task, the highest goal is the good of the country and its citizens. And the awards that will be presented today are a tribute to those who perceive their calling in this way," the Russian President addressed the forum participants.

The President also stressed the importance of the federal personnel program "Time of Heroes" and similar regional projects aimed at attracting new professional leaders to local government. The head of state expressed confidence that these initiatives will help form teams of responsible managers capable of working effectively for the good of society.
