“Never Say ‘Skinwalker’ on the Reservation — I Made That Mistake and It Found Me”
🪶 Based on chilling true experiences from the Navajo Nation…

Last October, I visited my grandparents near Shiprock for what was supposed to be a peaceful family trip and a visit to the Northern Navajo Nation Fair. But one question changed everything:
“Are skinwalkers real?”

In Navajo culture, skinwalkers — or yee naaldlooshii — are never spoken about lightly. It’s believed that even mentioning them can draw their attention. I didn’t believe that...
Until something answered.

What followed was a terrifying night filled with distorted screams, glowing orange eyes, and something inhuman scratching at the door. This story is my firsthand account of what happened — and why I will never speak their name so carelessly again.
