What Happens in 2 Samuel 5?
David’s time has finally come. After years of waiting, surviving, and staying faithful, all the tribes of Israel come together to anoint David as king—not just of Judah, but over all Israel. He was 30 years old and would reign for 40 years.

David then conquers Jerusalem, defeating the Jebusites who mocked him, saying even the blind and lame could defend the city. But David takes it anyway, making it the capital of his kingdom—Zion, the City of David.

As David’s kingdom grows, God’s hand is clearly with him. He builds alliances (like with Hiram, king of Tyre), expands his family, and defeats the Philistines in two big battles. But he doesn’t charge in blindly—David seeks God’s guidance first, and God gives him strategy and victory.
