Apatros Review Ep-0149: Zombie Massacre [2013] ("Apocalypse Z")

AR-0149: In the 1980s the Italian zombie film had its hour of glory. This 2013 attempt at a post-millennial Italian zombie flick was apparently meant to be an adaptation of a then-in-development FPS zombie game that was then cancelled [but the movie went on anyway], and produced by the legendarily infamous Grim Reaper of Videogame Adaptations, Uwe Boll [who has an awesome cameo here as the US President!!!].

As for plot, get a load of this: a genetically engineered biotoxin that turns people into undead enthusiasts for long pig gets loose in an Eastern European 💩-hole nuclear dormitory town. The Powers That Be decide to send four mercenaries to the town to plant a "Hiroshima Popper" [nuke] and quickly split. But the Mercs then find they are not supposed to survive the mission and are now trapped in a town filled with hungry undead enthusiasts for long pig.

Even the worst of the 1980s Italian zombie films were better than this schlocker, this movie having a plethora of bad logic and technical goofs, unconvincing acting, prop weapons that won't fire a bullet, badly staged action scenes and hilariously nasty dialogue that would give William Shakespeare a bad case of the runs.

My Grade: D [Bad]
