King of Kings

Happy Resurrection Sunday! He has risen! The KING OF KINGS AND THE LORD OF LORDS! There is no other King like our King! If Jesus didn’t raise from the dead, there is no Christian faith. Sir Lionel Luchhoo (1914-1997) was listed in the Guinness Book of World Records as the world’s most successful criminal attorney. He wrote: “The bones of Muhamad are in Medina, the bones of Confucius are in Shantung, the cremated bones of Budda are in Nepal…But in Jerusalem there is a cave cut into the rock. This is the tomb of Jesus. IT IS EMPTY! YES, EMPTY! BECAUSE HE IS RISEN!”

Resurrection: Strong’s #386 anastasis (an-as-tas-is); A standing up again, restoration to life, rising from the dead. A compound of ana “again” and histemi “to stand.”

Jesus Dies on the Cross
Matt 27:51-54 Then, behold, the veil of the temple was torn in two from top to bottom; and the earth quaked, and the rocks were split, 52 and the graves were opened; and many bodies of the saints who had fallen asleep were raised; 53 and coming out of the graves after His resurrection, they went into the holy city and appeared to many. 54 So when the centurion and those with him, who were guarding Jesus, saw the earthquake and the things that had happened, they feared greatly, saying, "Truly this was the Son of God!"

Matt 27:62-66 On the next day, which followed the Day of Preparation, the chief priests and Pharisees gathered together to Pilate, 63 saying, "Sir, we remember, while He was still alive, how that deceiver said, 'After three days I will rise.' 64 Therefore command that the tomb be made secure until the third day, lest His disciples come by night and steal Him away, and say to the people, 'He has risen from the dead.' So the last deception will be worse than the first." 65 Pilate said to them, "You have a guard; go your way, make it as secure as you know how." 66 So they went and made the tomb secure, sealing the stone and setting the guard.

He Is Risen!
Matt 28:1-10 Now after the Sabbath, as the first day of the week began to dawn, Mary Magdalene and the other Mary came to see the tomb. 2 And behold, there was a great earthquake; for an angel of the Lord descended from heaven, and came and rolled back the stone from the door, and sat on it. 3 His countenance was like lightning, and his clothing as white as snow. 4 And the guards shook for fear of him, and became like dead men.

5 But the angel answered and said to the women, "Do not be afraid, for I know that you seek Jesus who was crucified. 6 He is not here; for He is risen, as He said. Come, see the place where the Lord lay. 7 And go quickly and tell His disciples that He is risen from the dead, and indeed He is going before you into Galilee; there you will see Him. Behold, I have told you." 8 So they went out quickly from the tomb with fear and great joy, and ran to bring His disciples word.

9 And as they went to tell His disciples, behold, Jesus met them, saying, "Rejoice!" So they came and held Him by the feet and worshiped Him. 10 Then Jesus said to them, "Do not be afraid. Go and tell My brethren to go to Galilee, and there they will see Me."

Matt 28:11-14 Now while they were going, behold, some of the guard came into the city and reported to the chief priests all the things that had happened. 12 When they had assembled with the elders and consulted together, they gave a large sum of money to the soldiers, 13 saying, "Tell them, 'His disciples came at night and stole Him away while we slept.'

The Risen Christ Appears to Many

The Amazing King of Kings! That’s my Jesus!

Jn 1:1-14 He was born over 2,000 years ago, yet He has lived forever. Jesus is the Word of God and was with God when the world was formed. Another amazing fact; God knew all of us at that time as well! (Eph 1:4).

Mtt 14:25 He can walk on water. Jesus came walking on the sea in the middle of the night, in a storm!
Jn 20:26 He can walk through walls. All of the doors were locked and shut and Jesus appeared next to them.

Lk 24:31 He can vanish and reappear in another location. Jesus was talking with two disciples and vanished.
Jn 11:40-44 He can bring the dead back to life. Jesus commanded Lazarus to come forth from the grave

Mt 8: 28-34, Jm 2:19 He has power over demons and they tremble at His voice. Jesus speaks with authority and the world listens.
Acts 1:9-11 He can hover above the ground. Jesus ascended into Heaven in a cloud and He is coming back the same way!

Luke 5:22, 6:8, 11:17 He can read people’s thoughts. The Scribes and Pharisees were always trying to bring accusations against Him, and He knew their motives.
Mk 11:21 He can speak to a tree and it obeys Him. Jesus cursed a fig tree because it did not bear fruit as a lesson to His disciples.

Acts 1:5, Mtt 17:27, Mtt 21:1-11, Jn 21:6 He can tell the future. A coin in a fish’s mouth, and cast your net on the other side.
Mtt 26:52-54 He controls all of the angels and no army can defeat Him. Jesus said He could call down 12 legions of angles. In the OT, one angel killed 185,000 enemy soldiers.
Mtt 14:17-21 He can take one thing and multiply it into hundreds. Jesus took 5 loaves of bread and 2 fish, fed over 5,000 and had more left-overs then what He started with.
Mtt 21:12 He is not playing games. He hates dishonesty Jesus turned over the tables in the temple and drove everyone out.

Mtt 10:1 He has control over all sickness and disease. Jesus healed the blind, deaf, dumb, backs, diseased, crippled, epilepsy…everything! Even raised the dead!
Jn 15:11-17 He is the most loyal and best friend you will ever have. Jesus is not only your friend, He wants to adopt you.

Heb 13:5,6 He will never leave you alone. Jesus is your helper; you have nothing to fear.
Mtt 16:21 He loves you so much, He is willing to die for you. Jesus’ love saved us.

Heb 4:14-16, Mtt 14:14 He knows how you feel when you hurt. Jesus is tougher than nails, yet moved with compassion.
Mtt 16:19 He wants to give you the keys to everything He owns. Jesus said He would give us the keys to the Kingdom of Heaven.

Rm 8:17 He wants to share everything He has with you. We are joint heirs with Christ
Jn 10:10 He came to give you abundant life. It’s not just about going to Heaven, it is about living in the Kingdom of Heaven now.
1 Cor 15:57,58 He gave you victory over every battle because He fights for and with you. Don’t let circumstances push you around!

Rev 19:11-16 Now I saw heaven opened, and behold, a white horse. And He who sat on him was called Faithful and True, and in righteousness He judges and makes war. 12 His eyes were like a flame of fire, and on His head were many crowns. He had a name written that no one knew except Himself. 13 He was clothed with a robe dipped in blood, and His name is called The Word of God. 14 And the armies in heaven, clothed in fine linen, white and clean, followed Him on white horses. 15 Now out of His mouth goes a sharp sword, that with it He should strike the nations. And He Himself will rule them with a rod of iron. He Himself treads the winepress of the fierceness and wrath of Almighty God. 16 And He has on His robe and on His thigh a name written: KING OF KINGS AND LORD OF LORDS.
