Firefly Serenade 🎶 | Purrla's Story: Part 1 - No Fear in the Flowers

The wind tugged at the tall grass, but Purrla walked straight through it—striped dress swaying, white sneakers stepping with purpose, and her little speaker purse bouncing against her hip, blasting a soft beat that didn’t match the speed of her stride.

She wasn’t running.

She just moved with energy.

Purrla was known for many things: her wild laugh, her quick drawings, the way she turned sidewalks into catwalks, and how she always found a reason to dance—even when there was no music playing. But more than anything?

She was known for being the first one in.

Scary cave? She’d peek inside. Strange sound in the trees? She’d go investigate. Everyone frozen on the edge of a hill afraid to jump into the lake?

Splash. She’d already gone.

People used to wonder if she felt fear at all.

The truth? She did.

She just didn’t let it stop her.

Not when there was fun to be had. Not when there was something new to discover. Not when someone needed a reason to be brave, too.

Yeah, she cried sometimes—big, dramatic cries that made everyone turn their heads. But those tears dried fast. Real fast. Especially if she thought someone was underestimating her.

Because underneath all the glitter and giggles, there was a core of steel.

Tonight, she sat in the middle of a wide flower field, legs crossed, sketchbook open. Fireflies blinked around her like stars on earth. She wasn’t scared. She wasn’t loud.

She was still.

Drawing something she’d only just begun to understand.

And whatever it was…

She was going to chase it.
