Pochta (The Post, 1929) is a Soviet animated short film directed by Mikhail Tsekhanovsky and N. Timofeev, based on a poem by Samuil Marshak. The film follows a letter's journey across the globe as it attempts to catch up with its constantly traveling recipient, Boris Prutkov—modeled after real-life writer and adventurer Boris Zhitkov. From Rostov to Leningrad, Berlin, London, and finally back to Leningrad, the letter persistently trails Prutkov, always arriving just after he has departed for his next destination. This whimsical narrative humorously highlights the challenges of communication in an era of increasing global mobility.
