Episode 1 of Deck Profiles: SV1 - JTG will be about Volcanion Magmortar.

Volcanion is a notorious archetype in the Pokemon TCG in that it always get very innovative combinations to play. I talk a lot about the versions of Volcanion we have seen in modern Pokemon TCG in this video.

For Scarlet & Violet - Journey Together, we get another checkmate-style Volcanion archetype, this time as a Rule Box Pokemon, as opposed to the single--prize Volcanion from Sun & Moon - Unbroken Bonds. This Volcanion, however, is a great feat from the Pokemon TCG developers in that it centers around Volcanion's theme in the core game in that it has a signature attack, Steam Eruption, which is a Water-Type move that has a 30% chance to burn.

I talk a lot about the checkmate style in Pokemon and how it may seem daunting at first to approach, but once you understand the concept, the philosophy, and the execution of checkmate, you can succeed with checkmate without it having to be an incomplete meta call style of checkmate where your opponent doesn't get to play the game like Froslass Munkidori we have been seeing pop up. Checkmate can be elegant, intriguing and rewarding, and your opponent can get to play the game. In fact, them playing the game is more beneficial to your win condition!
