Episode 166 - MLK: COINTELPRO Gets Its Man (Part II)

The backstories of Dr. William Pepper and MLK's relationship, Dr. Pepper's involvement with the James Earl Ray case, the involvement of the FBI in the MLK case - both the decision to kill him and the setting up of a patsy - and the involvement of military intelligence in the choosing of an alias for their patsy. The government wanted the American people to believe James Earl Ray was a racist, criminal mastermind when in truth, its own psychological profile of Ray said otherwise which is why he was chosen for the role. In contrast to the JFK assassination which featured an intelligence asset as the preordained patsy, the RFK and MLK assassinations both featured unwitting dupes that couldn't easily be traced back to any government agency.
