Two sentences, that changed the course of history:
He is not here.
He is risen, just like he said.
Center of Christianity - an empty tomb
Faith happens when the unexplainable meets the undeniable.
Matthew 28:17 (NIV) “When they saw him, they worshiped him; but some doubted.”
Paul has explained that the resurrection proved 2 things to him:
1.Jesus was who he said he was
Romans 1:4, “(Jesus) was declared to be the Son of God in power… by his resurrection from the dead.”
2.The resurrection shows us Jesus’ death accomplished what he said it accomplished.
Romans 4:25 “He was delivered over to death for our sins and was raised to life for (because of) our justification.”
The resurrection means the gospel is power.
Romans 6:1 “What shall we say then? Are we to continue in sin that grace may abound?”
Romans 6:2 “By no means!”
Romans 6: 3: “Do you not know that all of us who have been baptized into Christ Jesus were baptized into his death? 4 We were buried therefore with him by baptism into death, in order that, just as Christ was raised from the dead by the glory of the Father, we too might walk in newness of life.”
We renounce it once and for all =“repentance.”
Our conversion begins in repentance.
Christ has destroyed the reign of sin
Romans 6:5 “For if we have been united with him in a death like his, we shall certainly be united with him in a resurrection like his.
Resurrection declaresDeath has been defeated
JESUS does have the last word.
Romans 6:4“Therefore we were buried with him by baptism into death, in order that, just as Christ was raised from the dead by the glory of the Father, we too might walk in newness of life.”
Romans 6:23 “For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.”
