Lebanon wants to bring ALL WEAPONS under state control; Hezbollah say NO.

Lebanon will place all weapons under state control, but will wait for the “right conditions” to determine how to execute it, President Joseph Aoun said on Sunday.

"The Lebanese people do not want war, and therefore the armed forces are the only body responsible for Lebanon's sovereignty and independence,” he said following a meeting with Maronite Patriarch Cardinal Bechara Boutros Al-Rai.

He said the state will deal with the issue of Hezbollah's weapons “with vision and responsibility.”

However, Naim Kassem, the leader of Lebanon’s militant Hezbollah group addressed supporters in a speech broadcast on Hezbollah’s television station, said on Friday that its fighters will not disarm as long as Israeli troops remain in southern Lebanon and the Israeli air force regularly violates Lebanese air space.
