Last week, we commemorated Palm Sunday—Jesus’ triumphant entry into Jerusalem. We reflected on how He came through the Eastern Gate, fulfilling the prophetic word found in Ezekiel 44, which declared that the Messiah would enter through that very gate—and that it would be shut thereafter, never to be opened again. Even today, the Eastern Gate remains sealed, blocked by stone and a cemetery, a human attempt to prevent any future "Messiah" from entering. But prophecy was fulfilled—Jesus entered, and the gate was shut, just as foretold.
Today, we celebrate Passover—what we now call Easter. Across the world, believers are rejoicing in what is undeniably the most significant event in human history: the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ, our Saviour and King. Scripture gives no record of Jesus leaving Jerusalem after His entry. In accordance with the law, He remained visible for three days before His crucifixion, fulfilling every requirement of the Passover Lamb.
