Highflats is a small hamlet in the Ubuhlebezwe Local Municipality, Harry Gwala District, KwaZulu-Natal, South Africa, situated at an elevation of 947 meters. Located about 540 km south of Pretoria, it lies in a region known for its scenic beauty, with the name Ubuhlebezwe meaning "The Beauty of the Land" in isiZulu, inspired by Alan Paton’s novel Cry, The Beloved Country. The town is part of the Sisonke District, with satellite coordinates of approximately 30°15'28"S and 30°11'36"E. Nearby places include Ndwebu 2, New Garret, Chatwell, and Chalwell, and it’s relatively close to larger cities like Pietermaritzburg, Durban, and Richards Bay. Highflats is a quiet, rural settlement with limited infrastructure, featuring a South African Police Service station and basic amenities. Its surrounding area is characterized by rolling hills and lush landscapes typical of KwaZulu-Natal’s interior, but it lacks major tourist attractions or significant economic activity compared to coastal or urban centers in the province.
