Lavrov: Deployment of European Peacekeepers in Ukraine Would Be “An Act of War”

Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov issued a stark warning to Western leaders, declaring that Russia categorically opposes the deployment of any European peacekeeping forces in Ukraine.

“Such a move would be seen as a direct act of war,” Lavrov stated, emphasizing that the presence of foreign troops under the guise of “peacekeeping” would cross a red line and provoke a decisive military response.

He went on to say that so-called peacekeepers would not be neutral observers, but de facto combatants, embedded to support Kyiv and prolong the conflict under the pretense of humanitarian intervention.

Russia’s position is clear: foreign boots on the ground — especially from NATO-aligned states — will not be tolerated and would escalate the war into a far broader confrontation.
