In the 60s, Jooish social psychologist conducted 'The Milgram Experiment', a study on obedience to authority which
indicated that most people can be expected to obey authoritative orders when put under pressure even if it's against their conscience. Milgram worked at Harvard and was funded by the National Science Foundation (NSF), which itself receives funding from the US intelligence community.

People tend to obey orders from others if they recognize their authority as morally right and/or legally based. This response to "legitimate authority" is learned in a variety of ways, i.e at home, school, the workplace, entertainment and social media.
