Burn: New Beginnings (part 18)

*Waking in a large pool of blood, Burn has no idea how he is even still alive. All he knows is that the night has grown darker and silence has settled along the mountain pass that once was filled with so much chaotic violence. It is then he notices that a man is nearby, a man with shaggy brown hair, a smiling fellow who says Burn has more to do, more to save, and that it is not his time so he needs to get up and follow. Already wanting to find out what has happened to Gabriella and Reign, and for some reason just instantly trusting this man, Burn eagerly does as he was asked. He follows, delighting in how the man is headed back up the path, hopefully to Gabriella and Reign, yet suddenly the man stops. He points to a fork in the pass, a diverging of two ways that is marked by a black blade that has fallen between what leads up and what leads back down. The brown haired man tells Burn that the blade is Reaper, the sword of Dannawthen that fell from that dark angels grasp as Burn fought it. This means that Reaper belongs to Burn now and he can use it, hold it tight and run towards the path that leads down and to Gabriella, or Burn can let the sword go and keep following the man up and towards the light that still shines so bright on the horizon. The brown haired man asks Burn to have faith, to trust in him and that his way is always right, but Burn never hesitates. He doesn't know this man even if he does seem like someone trust worthy, and, besides, he can't let Gabriella go. Burn takes Reaper and runs down, finding to his horror Gabriella already surrounded by so many of the Devoted while Reign is spied already in the hands of Traul. But Burn truly does have such a tight hold on Reaper, that black blade somehow cleansing the red out of his sweater even though that fabric had already gone a deep crimson saturated. Burn even thinks this might mean that Reaper is a great strength and he quickly attacks. Burn slices through many a Devoted as he does get to Gabriella yet not before she is bitten [AI Art]*
