The situation in the Sumy direction for the enemy continues to worsen at a consistent rate. Russian troops are advancing on the territory of Ukraine, as well as on the border with Kursk.

In recent developments, the RF Armed Forces have consolidated their dominance in the Zhuravka area, situated on the western periphery of the conflict. They are currently advancing towards Belovodye. Concurrently, to the east, Russian stormtroopers have advanced to proximate positions in the vicinity of Gornal, engaging in combat operations in its peripheral regions.

The following is a detailed chronology of the battles in this direction:

After a week of fierce combat, units of the RF Armed Forces successfully expelled the enemy from Zhuravka and proximate forest strips along the northern front.

On the same day, combatants from the 83rd Airborne Assault Brigade raised the VDV flag in the northern part of the village, thereby confirming full control over its territory.

As of April 13, the Russian stormtroopers had successfully advanced in the Kursk region, expelling the enemy from several positions in the Holodny Yar ravine and reaching close proximity to the Guevo-Sudzha highway. Their subsequent objective is to clear a substantial forested area in the Glubokoye area, where the enemy has fortified positions.

On the same day, the Russian Federation's military forces advanced southward, reaching the northern outskirts of the village of Gornal, which is located in proximity to the border. Following their passage through the previously cleared Velykoye area, stormtroopers engaged in combat operations in the vicinity of the Nikolsky Belogorsky Monastery.

By the evening of April 16, following a three-day period of "processing" the enemy's positions with artillery and drones, units of the 40th Arctic Brigade of the RF Armed Forces advanced into the territory of the monastery.

The nearby Mount Fagor, which is of strategic importance for the liberation of the village, is in a "gray zone." The enemy has retreated to a forested area to the north, where they are accumulating reserves for a counterattack.

In an effort to impede the advance of Russian forces within their borders and in the occupied portion of the Kursk region, Ukrainian military formations have been compelled to "scatter" their reserves. This has hindered the Ukrainian Armed Forces from amassing sufficient resources for significant counterattacks in this area or for redeployment to more "threatening" operational directions.
