GTA: San Andreas – The Definitive Edition | Mission #04: CLEANING THE HOOD

Inside Sweet’s house, a heated discussion unfolds between Sweet, Big Smoke, and Ryder. Sweet laments the downfall of Grove Street, blaming the rampant drug trade for weakening the gang’s unity. Smoke, ever the pragmatist, argues that making money is part of the game. CJ enters just in time to hear Sweet venting his frustration, declaring that the neighborhood needs to be cleaned up. Sweet instructs CJ and Ryder to take action, specifically shutting down a Ballas dealer who’s been exploiting their homies. CJ, seeing how fractured the gang has become, agrees and decides it's time to bring the Grove back together.

CJ and Ryder head out, hoping to rally some old allies. They consider recruiting B-Dup and Big Bear, two former Grove Street members. On the way to B-Dup’s apartment, they talk about how the hood has fallen apart, with most of their crew either gone or lost to addiction. Upon arriving, CJ knocks, only to be greeted with hostility from B-Dup. Once a loyal member of the gang, B-Dup has now embraced the drug trade, valuing money over the old Grove Street ideals. To CJ’s shock, Big Bear, once a feared and respected OG, is now reduced to a mere servant, enslaved by addiction. When CJ tries to reason with him, Bear barely acknowledges his past, choosing instead to obey B-Dup’s orders. Realizing they can’t count on their old homies, CJ and Ryder leave, disgusted by what crack has done to their community.

Determined to take a stand, CJ and Ryder drive around the hood, looking for dealers. They soon spot a Grove Street member buying from a Ballas dealer. Without hesitation, they confront and eliminate the dealer, reclaiming a small part of their turf. Ryder recognizes the dealer as someone connected to a Front Yard Balla OG, leading them to a nearby crack den—a prime target in their mission to clean up Grove Street. Upon arrival, the stench of drugs and decay is overpowering. Inside, they find Ballas and users sprawled out, lost in addiction. Wasting no time, they attack, eliminating the drug pushers and clearing out the den.

With the mission accomplished, CJ and Ryder return to Grove Street, knowing they’ve struck a blow against the Ballas' drug operations. Ryder acknowledges CJ’s loyalty, noting that things are finally starting to change. CJ, however, knows this is just the beginning—if they want to restore Grove Street's former glory, they’ll need to keep pushing back against the Ballas and their destructive influence.
