Russia Seizes Thousands Of Homes In Mariupol As Ukraine Promotes 'Neo-Nazi' Azov Commander | CLRCUT

Russia’s war in Ukraine continues to escalate across multiple fronts. In occupied Mariupol, Moscow-installed authorities are accused of orchestrating a mass property seizure campaign, with over 5,700 Ukrainian-owned homes marked for confiscation—part of a wider Russification effort. Displaced residents face near-impossible legal and physical barriers to reclaim their properties, including Russian citizenship requirements and FSB “filtration” checks.

Meanwhile, Ukraine has promoted Colonel Denis Prokopenko, commander of the controversial Azov Brigade, to lead a newly formed corps—an appointment likely to draw Russian ire given Azov’s past.

Tensions are also rising with NATO countries. Russia warned Denmark that even unarmed troops observing Ukrainian drone warfare would be seen as participants in the conflict. Similar threats were made to Germany over potential Taurus missile supplies. Former Russian President Dmitry Medvedev sharpened the rhetoric, warning that any European troops in Ukraine would return “in coffins,” raising the stakes in an increasingly globalised war theatre.
