Defence Science - Solved IED Problem With Cheap Robotics

Back in 2006 through 2009 I worked on inexpensive IED reconnaissance robotics exploiting billion-dollar a year RC car chassis (so we didn't reinvent the wheel) and showed off $5000 EOD robots as a way to let every truck driver investigate culverts and roadside bombs without driving over them. And then detonate the IED by command.
Project was ignored because it offended combat engineers that didn't want truck drivers to have explosive devices that would give away special need for engineers.

Exactly! Why should any truck driver need to wait for support?

Demonstrated in Afghanistan
