Trump Corrects his pronuncitation of qatar while announcing foreign state visits

In a press briefing on Monday evening, US President Donald Trump announced that his first international trip would include visits to the Gulf states of Saudi Arabia, the UAE and Qatar as "in the Middle East those seem to be the three".

The president then paused to correct his pronunciation of Qatar in the middle of the announcement, before later continuing, claiming "nobody told him [the] right or wrong" way to say the country's name.

The visits come amid worsening relations between the US and Iran after Trump threatened to bomb Iran if it did not reach a nuclear agreement in an ongoing war of words between the two countries.

Given their hosting of US airbases, the Gulf countries could be directly implicated in a military confrontation between the US and Iran should de-escalation among the two fail.
