How to Play Red Light, Green Light!

🎯 How to Play: Red Light, Green Light

Players: 3 or more
Space Needed: Open area (yard, field, gym, etc.)

Objective:
Be the first to reach the finish line without getting caught moving on “Red Light!”

🔁 Game Setup:

Choose one player to be the "Traffic Light" — they stand at one end of the play area with their back turned to the rest.

All other players line up side by side at the opposite end — this is the starting line.

🚦 How to Play:

The Traffic Light starts the game by yelling "Green Light!" and immediately turning their back.

Players now run or walk toward them.

At any moment, the Traffic Light can suddenly yell "Red Light!" and quickly turn around.

When "Red Light!" is called, all players must freeze instantly.

If the Traffic Light catches anyone still moving, that player is either:

Sent back to the starting line (basic version), or

Out for the round (hard version).

The game continues with alternating calls of “Green Light” and “Red Light” until:

A player successfully tags the Traffic Light without being caught. That player wins and becomes the next Traffic Light!

🎮 Tips & Variations:

Mix up the timing to keep players on their toes!

Add silly moves like hopping or crab-walking on "Green Light" for extra fun.

Great as a party game, recess activity, or icebreaker.
