Mounjaro/GLP1 - Intuitive Eating is Next?
This week’s MonjaroTalk isn’t about pounds lost or gained—it's about something even more powerful: progress. In this episode, I walk through a surprisingly emotional and empowering experience—buying new clothes in sizes I haven’t worn in years. From navigating Kohl’s infamous shopping math to stepping foot in a different section of the store, this moment was a real turning point. But I also share something deeper: what happens next? What does life after Monro look like? I discuss my hopes, my plans, and the new mindset I’m working to build around food, body image, and lifelong health.
🧥 The Unexpected Joy of Clothes Shopping:
This wasn't just a retail run—it was a milestone. After years of working through storage boxes of progressively smaller clothes, I’ve reached the last one. My trip to Kohl’s was a bit confusing (hello, numbered jeans sizes!), a bit funny, and more than a little emotional. For the first time in years, I left the plus-size section behind and picked up mediums and larges. Trying on rain jackets that actually fit and finding myself on the “other side” of the store was a moment I won’t forget.
🧠 What Comes After Monro?
I'm watching others navigate post-Monro life and asking: what will my plan be? Many are continuing low doses, and I might do the same, especially with new pill options in development. But more than that, I’m trying to build sustainable habits that don’t rely on the medication. My focus is shifting to mindful and intuitive eating—learning to listen to hunger cues, stop eating when full, and break the patterns of stress or boredom eating.
💡 Building a New Relationship with Food:
From mindful eating to Stoic philosophy, I’m exploring ways to approach food with more awareness and less guilt. I share tools like hunger scales, timers for slower eating, and even an abacus trick I used in the office. I talk about labeling emotions instead of labeling food, choosing nourishment over indulgence, and aiming to feel satisfied—not stuffed.
✨ Key Takeaways:
Non-scale victories—like buying new clothes—are powerful and worth celebrating.
Mindful eating is about paying attention, slowing down, and enjoying your meals with intention.
Stoicism offers helpful insights for emotional awareness and self-control around food.
Having a post-Monro plan is essential—whether it's intuitive eating, continued tracking, or finding new healthy recipes.
You don’t have to track food forever—but you do need to stay aware and intentional.
