The Descent - Jerry Goldsmith (Underwater Camp)

Gwydian paused from his endless sweeping and looked up. A chill had just gone up his spine, a sure sign that the Wizard was observing him from afar. The Wizard. It had always been just the two of them, alone in this ghastly castle on the mountaintop. He was a harsh master, quick to criticize the smallest mistake, terrifying in his anger. Gywdian had no idea who he really was, who his parents had been. All he had ever known was the Wizard, his evil cat, and his unending lonliness.

"Beloved" a voice whispered in his ear. Gwydian spun around but of course there was nobody there. He had heard this voice before, a flat, almost uninterested sounding voice that came to him usually in the dark of the night when he stared at the ceiling of his cell with tears in his eyes.

"We are coming for you. Go to the Wizard's laboratory in the cellar. Have faith, little one. You are not forgotten."

Gwydian sighed. Absentmindely he pulled some hair from the hated cat off the broom and pocketed it. Maybe he would slip it in the Wizard's dinner tonight if he was brave enough. He glanced curiously at the cellar door. He had never been down there before. Summoning his courage, he approached the door and entered it.

LATER DAYS: The Jerry Goldsmith Experience: Track Fourteen

Song: Underwater Camp
Artist: Jerry Goldsmith
Album: Leviathan OST
Source Material: King's Quest III: To Heir is Human
Mix: Forever Young

This was an interesting little project I did recently. It takes that plot from King's Quest 3, a video game from the 80's, and sets it against this incredible composition by Jerry Goldsmith which he made for the opening credit scene for the movie LEVIATHAN. This song's actual title is "Underwater Camp" although as far as alternate names go, I think "The Descent" is very fitting.
