SUV vs 18 Wheeler, Driver Flown, GOODRICH, April 16, 2025 - Shortly before 6 am on April 16, 2025, a silver 2017 Nissan Rogue driven by Kenneth Hooper, 55, of Point Blank, was south-bound on US-59. As Hooper was about to pass the north end of Loop 393, an 18 wheeler pulled across 59 and allegedly failed to yield to Hooper. Hooper cut left to avoid the collision but there was no dodging the semi as it was completely across the road. Hooper slammed into the driver's side fuel tank of the semi (driven by Javaris Horton, 31, of Braxton, Mississippi. Allegiance Ambulance Service was dispatched to the scene along with the Goodrich Volunteer Fire Department and Trooper Nick Hatton with The Texas Highway Patrol. Hooper was transported by ambulance to a heli-pad in Livingston and flown. Horton was physically okay. The entire south-bound lane of 59 at Loop 393 was blocked (traffic was routed to 393 around the accident). Horton is likely facing a citation for failure to yield to oncoming traffic. Hooper's vehicle was recovered by Ken's Towing out of Livingston while Horton's semi was recovered by Clifton Chevrolet out of Corrigan. This accident remains under investigation by The Texas Highway Patrol.

Special thank you: Ken with Ken's Towing
