Polishing a Stone by Hand – Full Transformation | Smotraform

While hiking in the mountains near Valencia, Spain, I came across this interesting-looking stone.
It wasn’t shiny or special — just raw and rough — but I had a feeling it might be hiding something beautiful inside.

Back at home, I began the transformation.
I started by brushing off the dirt, then moved through multiple sanding stages:

80 grit to remove the rough surface

240 grit to smooth it out

800 grit for the final silky finish

In between, I rinsed the stone, rounded the edges by hand, and at the end, I applied a bit of oil using a paper towel to bring out the color and shine.

Everything you see here was done without machines — just hands, patience, and simple tools.
