Race-Swapped Snape CONFIRMED by HBO for Harry Potter Series

HBO confirmed Severus Snape will be race-swapped for the upcoming Harry Potter series for the streaming platform.

This isn’t exactly news since it had previously been rumored that Paapa Essiedu is up for the role of Snape in the series, but now it has been officially confirmed. Last year when casting announcements were released it specifically said ethnicity wasn’t a factor in the casting decisions, but that was also released in the context of the kids casting call. This news has upset many fans of the Harry Potter franchise since Snape is specifically mentioned as having pale skin. It’s possible the show will still be good, but this news is starting things out on the wrong foot.
