The #13 Monza was one of the few missing Jenkins cars of the Pro Stock era. One of the 4 Monza that Bill Jenkins campaigned, this '76 would eventually run well into the 7s as it stormed the nation's quarter mile tracks. It was the Pro Stock Champ in '76 with Larry Lombardo at the wheel. Typical of Jenkins and SRD Chassis it featured some innovative and experimental things. Larry Lombardo was at the wheel when it did the guardrail slam dance at Indy. 3 months later it was track ready again. Once it was sold off it eventually made its way into the stable of Pat Musi for a short time. Then it vanished. Running under the radar, but still hitting the tracks throughout North Carolina as a regular old bracket car. 19 years ago Doug just happened to buy it so he and his son could do some racing. Doug knew it was a pro built car, but had no idea how pro built, or by who. He researched it for years to discover it was the missing 13 car. Since then, Doug has gotten confirmation from Larry Lombardo, SRD, and others close to the car. I did a feature in issue 8 of Eastern Hot Rodder years ago, Doug literally getting confirmation of the car's authenticity days before I went to print. I finally got to sit down with Doug the other day to do an interview with hi about the car, its history, and some cool stories of just how he came to uncover a true piece of drag racing history. If you are interested in purchasing the car email me at easternhotrodder@aol.com and I will forward your info to Doug. Hope you enjoy the video.
