Smart, brilliant, but conservative... unforgivable, right?

"I found out today that somebody that I work with is a conservative, and he's somebody who's really intelligent, and he's somebody who works in climate tech, and is a super smart guy somebody I would never have thought was conservative and apparently he is. And it's surprising, and it's disgusting, but what's most surprising to me is the level of sudden hatred that I have for him. Sudden hatred for this man, who I used to respect, suddenly just went boop, went boop, and I f***ing hate him now."

In a world that prides itself on defending inclusion, diversity, and freedom of thought, it is curious if not outright concerning that these same values are upheld only as long as everyone thinks the same. A recent viral video shows a woman expressing sudden and intense hatred toward a coworker not for any reprehensible action, but simply for discovering that he is a conservative.

She describes him as brilliant, intelligent, and dedicated. However, upon learning about his political orientation, all that respect vanished. It’s a clear example of the double standard faced by those who think differently.

The paradox is evident: those who boast of being inclusive and progressive often practice a sophisticated form of intolerance. It's not new, but it’s becoming increasingly visible.

This is not about playing the victim, but about clearly exposing an ideological double standard that, instead of promoting dialogue, prefers cancellation. And there lies the real danger: when respect depends on your political affiliation, we stop talking about freedom and start talking about control. Thinking differently is not unforgivable. What should be unforgivable is hating someone for it.
