That I Might Gain the More
(Volunteer Service is Superior Service)

Text: 1 Corinthians 9:17 - 9:19
Objective: that the brethren serve the Lord well, and better each passing day by having better motivation to serve.
Intro:
Define – gain, more, volunteer(v.19 ‘free’), service, superior, hire/ling

1. Notice the willingness of the Lord himself -Mark 10:45
The greatest among us is not the one who commands the most attention, but the one who meets the needs of others.
His life was a continual act of volunteering—feeding the hungry, healing the sick, washing the feet of His disciples.

2. We Are Created to Do Good Works – Ephesians 2:10 (KJV)
“For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus unto good works, which God hath before ordained that we should walk in them.”

You were designed with purpose—your gifts, talents, and even your availability are not accidents.
“Good works” include every act of volunteering in the church and beyond: ushering, teaching, visiting the sick, feeding the hungry, praying for others.

3. Service to Others is Service to Christ – Matthew 25:35–40 (KJV)
“Inasmuch as ye have done it unto one of the least of these my brethren, ye have done it unto me.”

When we serve others correctly, we are serving Christ Himself.
Jesus identifies with “the least of these”—those in need, the overlooked, the hurting.
No act of service is too small or unseen by God.
Overcome the Excuses
4. The Reward of Service – Galatians 6:9 (KJV)
“And let us not be weary in well doing: for in due season we shall reap, if we faint not.”
5. Be a Living Sacrifice

Romans 12:1 (KJV) — “Present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service.”

Why is Volunteer service superior and How do we do it:
1. Reward is Sure for the willing – v.17a
2. Regardless of Rewards, Commitment to the most important things is superior motivation – v. 17b
3. Being a Volunteer in and of itself is Superior Status as Servant – v.18a
4. Volunteer Service Will Ward off Abuse – v.18b
5. Result is More Yield / Gain – v.19

Message/conclusion:
Let us Render the Best and superior service for the Lord and the world that the Lord loved, the brethren. Be loving volunteer servants.
