* St. John Chrysostom: “Christ does not tolerate the mixing of piety with greed. He cleanses the temple because judgment begins in the house of God.”
* The Fathers saw the temple cleansing as a personal warning: if Christ is not Lord of your inner life, He will tear it down to rebuild it.
* St. Cyril of Jerusalem: “The Lord entered not just the physical temple, but the soul of man, to purify and sanctify.”
* During Holy Week, the Church teaches not only remembrance—but participation: you are Jerusalem. He’s coming to confront your corruption.
