Dear Pastor Bob: One thing that bothers me is seeing these pastors all over tv, the internet, etc making the same amount of money as a Rock Star or an Actor. To me this just seems very unethical. These are the same people who preach about tithing and because it will make you richer, when they are only trying to fill their own pockets instead. This has been seen with Religious Leaders of the Past and Present, and most likely will continue before the return of Christ. I did my research and I was shocked at how many there were. Not just the ones who you see everywhere, but some that I started to listen to more recently on YouTube. These people are worth millions of dollars. Did Jesus not say, “Leave everything and follow me?” I do not think Jesus ever intended nor wanted us to be wealthy like that. If we are rich, why do we need God? If everything is right there in front of us and is perfect, why would any (including these pastors and others), need to follow God. It seems evil and wrong that they not only misinterpret Scripture, but they flaunt their success in your face; saying you too can have it all if you just obey God, if you do this, do that. Never lend a hand to the poor or help the homeless. It makes many of us other Christians feel like what am I doing wrong? Is this really true, and did I miss something? Or are we supposed to live with less? I am beginning to think that they stick around and preach (even if it’s not in their heart) because they are gaining something by it, not spiritually speaking, but more materialistically speaking. Do I have a right to question these people and their motives? Is it wrong of me to think that their actions don’t align with the teachings of God? What do you think on the subject?
