Like every day before, this Sunday, and every day after… Christ Is King.

Happy Easter you bloody legends,

Well, it’s that time of year again—when we gather with family, try not to burn the lamb on the spit, and argue over who ate the last slice of tsoureki or hot cross bun. But more importantly, it’s Easter. And not just any Easter—this year, the stars have aligned and both Western and Greek Orthodox Christians are celebrating it at the same time. Mate, now if that’s not a miracle, I don’t know what is!

Now I know we live in a time where the world seems to be upside down—where up is down, wrong is right, and blokes named Karen are demanding to cancel everything. But no matter how twisted things get, some truths never change. And the biggest truth of them all is this: over 2,000 years ago, our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ was crucified, died, and was buried… and on the third day, He rose again—defeating death, sin, and the darkness of this world once and for all.

That’s what Easter is. Not about chocolate eggs, bunnies on steroids, or retailers flogging you specials on "holiday" ham. It’s about redemption. Sacrifice. Unshakeable love. And ultimate victory.

Jesus didn’t come to build an empire or win popularity contests—He came to save us. To show us that real power isn’t found in thrones or armies, but in humility, truth, and laying down your life for others. They mocked Him, spat on Him, beat Him, and nailed Him to a cross—but He still forgave them. That’s not weakness, mate. That’s divine strength.

And if you reckon Christianity is some outdated relic of the past—just remember: empires have risen and fallen, tyrants have tried to snuff it out, regimes have burned our churches and martyred our saints—but we’re still here. Stronger. Louder. Wiser. From the catacombs of ancient Rome to the dusty red earth of the Aussie outback, Christians have stood tall under fire, smiling through the tears, knowing that the tomb was empty.

So to all the punters out there—whether you’re celebrating Easter in your local church, around the family table, or in quiet reflection by yourself—I wish you peace, love, and the eternal hope that only Christ brings. And to those who don’t believe, or even hate us—no hard feelings, mate. We’ll still pray for you. That’s the deal with real faith. We bless even those who curse us.

Hold fast, dear Aussies. Don't let this world rob you of your light, your joy, or your spirit.

Because this Sunday, and every day after…

Christ Is King.

Cheers,
Senator Papahatziharalambrous
