Russell Brand has been accused of multiple counts of rape and sexual assault in the UK, stemming from incidents that allegedly occurred in 1999.

Let’s first hear what Russell Brand had to say when the news broke. Here it is:

"I’ve always told you that when I was young and single, before I had my wife and my family—they’re right over there, my beautiful children—I was a fool. I was a fool.

Before I lived in the light of the Lord, I was a drug addict, a sex addict, and a jerk. But what I never was, was a rapist. I never engaged in non-consensual activity. I pray you can see that when you look me in the eyes."

What do you think? I believe the statute of limitations for crimes has always been controversial, and I can see both sides of the argument, to be clear.

First of all, how do you defend yourself when you’re being accused of something you supposedly did 26 years ago?

Now, on the other hand, you could say, well, so what? We know what happened, but he got away with it. Who cares? No one cares that you were raped or sexually assaulted because more than two years have gone by.

It’s strange, right? It’s like a tug of war where you don’t know which side is more rational.

There’s no trial yet. We don’t know the details of the case. Obviously, we’ll be following this case, but I wanted to let you know. It’s happening.

And Russell Brand, I consider him a friend of mine, so I’ll be covering this case extensively as we learn more.
