If you ever need weird or unusual products, then AliExpress is the place to go. I was after a turntable to use when making my product reviews but I wanted a green one so I could remove the background when editing the video. You can get video turntables on AlexiExpress from under £20 but the only suitably sized green one I could find cost me just over £60 - now increased to £81 at the time of writing.

In the rather plain box, I received the turntable, an American two pin power adapter, an infrared remote control, and a user guide. The turntable rattles a bit when shaken, but otherwise, the quality seems fine. The remote control is a full sized dedicated unit - not just a generic repurposed one - and also seems well made. The user guide is well written, nicely printed, informative and useful.

Various sizes of the turntable are available and my one is 30 cm across by 6 cm deep and weighs around 1.5 Kg. It features a green textured non reflective non fluorescent surface on all sides and has a power switch, power input port, status LED and infrared receiver together in a bay along the side.

It features a rechargeable 8000 mAh battery charged using the power adapter supplied which works with any input from 100 - 250v but as it features a two pin plug I will need a plug adapter to use it. It is a pity it does not use a standard USB-C input. A four hour charge will give up to 8 hours of use.

I am not sure about the loading capacity of the turntable, the user guide and product page make various contradictory claims that it can bear a weight of as much as 150 kg but I would not feel happy putting much more than about 20 Kg on there. For me, this is not a problem as I will be using it only with small objects.

The power button is the only control on the turntable itself and the device begins rotation and the status LED lights up when it is pressed. In use it is controlled solely with the remote control. The control is full sized and equipped with a range of well marked buttons for each of its functions.

From the top, the buttons are:
Store Current Position
Resume Continuous Rotation
Intermittent Rotation
Rotate Right
Rotate Left
Speed Up
Speed Down
Start/Pause
Forward and Back 90°
Forward and Back 180°
Forward and Back 45°
Set Start Point
Return to Start Point
Rotate in 1° Steps

So as you see, plenty of options are available. In use, it is very quiet and should not be picked up by the camera mic unless it is very close in, and in any case, any noise can easily be removed when editing.

I do not use it often but have never found it lacking when I do. The green keys in nicely and work well with my software of choice, Blackmagic Design Davinci Resolve Studio..

This is not a cheap item, but it is well made, easy to use and works well. Of course, it is very much a niche item and these things are usually priced accordingly. If you need a green screen turntable, this would be a very decent buy.
