Livingston County Sheriff releases multi-county high-speed police chase video

Lansing, MI - A wild police chase from Livingston County to Lansing Tuesday afternoon is seen playing out on new dash-cam video releases by the Livingston County Sheriff’s Department.

Once the chase stopped following a multi-vehicle crash, police arrested two young adults and three teenagers.

At times, the driver of the BMW X5 SUV was going more than 120 mph, according to the speedometer on the video. The BMW can also be seen hitting at least half a dozen other vehicles on the interstate and smaller roads in town. At one point in the video, the sheriff’s department says a gun can be seen being thrown out of the SUV onto the interstate. This gun and another were recovered from the road.

After leaving I-96, the driver of the BMW slammed head-on into a car waiting on a red light near Jolly Rd and Cedar St, along with other vehicles, where they finally were stopped.

Within seconds of the crash, four of the people in the SUV can be seen running from the scene, one of the people in the SUV stays with the vehicle and lies down on the road before being taken into custody.

During the initial investigation, authorities found a 19-year-old man from Lansing they say was the driver. Deputies booked him into the Livingston County jail. Deputies also found the four other people from the BMW, who are all underage. They are 15, 16, 17, and 18 years old.

Livingston County says, “One of the juveniles had a juvenile apprehension order and was turned over to a juvenile facility in Ingham County. The other juveniles were turned over to parents. The 18-year-old occupant was lodged at the Livingston County Jail for violating his bond conditions from a court case in another county.”

The driver, Kuku Daud, 18, is facing the following charges:

* Flee and elude 3rd degree
* Receiving and concealing a stolen vehicle
* Carrying a concealed weapon
* Receiving and concealing a stolen firearm
* Felonious assault with motor vehicle
* Resisting and obstruct police
* 3 counts of felony firearms
