“They Stole Our Water” Trump Blocks Water, Warns Mexico Of Sanctions As Rio Grande Runs Dry

US President Donald Trump is turning up the pressure on Mexico, threatening tariffs and even sanctions over what he calls theft of water owed to South Texas farmers under a decades-old treaty. In a fiery post on Truth Social, Trump blasted Mexico for withholding 1.3 million acre-feet of Rio Grande water, a violation of the 1944 Water Treaty. Trump alleged that Mexico has been stealing water from Texas farmers. Following this he noted that last year, the only sugar mill in Texas was shut down.President Trump praised Senator Ted Cruz for leading the charge, and pledged that his Agriculture Secretary, Brooke Rollins, will keep pushing back. Trump claims he’s already halted water shipments to Tijuana, warning that if Mexico doesn’t comply, tariffs and sanctions are next.
