Conglomerate with Shell Chips!
25
The rock in the image appears to be a type of conglomerate or a matrix with embedded fossil fragments. Conglomerates are sedimentary rocks composed of rounded pebbles, cobbles, or fragments (called clasts) that are cemented together by a finer-grained matrix, often made of sand, silt, or clay. In this case, the dark matrix looks like it could be a fine-grained sediment, possibly rich in organic material or iron oxides, giving it the dark color. The embedded fragments, which are lighter in color and vary in size, appear to be fossil pieces, likely shell fragments or small sections of marine organisms.
