Power Rangers Star REACTS to Writer's Comments on RACIST Casting

The original black Power Ranger, Walter Emanuel Jones, spoke out recently in response to comments from the series writer about regrets casting a black actor as the black Power Ranger.

Writer Tony Oliver said previously it never occurred to them that not only was a black actor the black ranger, but they also cast Asian actress, the late Thuy Trang, to play the yellow Power Ranger. This has been brought up by fans of the show in the past, but Walter Emanuel Jones said he didn’t personally have a problem with it and thought it was good to have a black superhero on tv back in the 90s. Much of the discourse surrounding this comes across as people being offended on behalf of others.
