Lama Dawa Zangpo’s Commentary:
Nagarjuna here is telling us something very important. We cannot just simply or oversimplify things. We have to understand that there are the truth of being in the world, the truth of cause and effect, the truth of interdependence, of phenomena, many, many important things, but the way we live our lives is we call conventional or worldly or relative truth and at the same time there is a, you could say, ultimate truth behind the appearances, which is the actual way things are, which is not as how they appear. This is where we talk about things like the emptiness of things. This is something that can be looked into later. It's somewhat advanced, and the important thing here is that we don't mix the two up. We should understand that relative truth is relative truth, and ultimate truth is ultimate truth. And studying Buddhism helps us to see the distinctions between them and how they relate to each other as well.
