ℹ️If you liked 28 Days Later (2002), you will also like this one. Not suitable for kids or younger teens due to the intense fear factor, graphic violence, strong language, and sexual content. Sexual content is minimal, except for a decontamination scene showing a woman being cleaned in a shower and a brief sex scene with partial female nudity. Strong language is used throughout the film.
Plot:
Set six months after 28 Days Later, the film follows NATO forces, led by the U.S. military, attempting to repopulate a quarantined London after the Rage Virus seemingly dies out. A safe zone, District One, is established under strict surveillance. The story centers on two siblings, Tammy and Andy, who return to London and sneak out to find a memento of their mother, unwittingly triggering a new outbreak. Their father, Don, harbors guilt over past choices, while a medical researcher, Scarlet, and a sniper, Doyle, try to protect the kids as the virus spreads. The plot spirals into chaos as the military’s containment fails, exploring themes of family, sacrifice, and the fragility of control in a crisis.
Characters:
Don (Robert Carlyle): A father wracked by guilt over abandoning his wife during the initial outbreak.
Tammy (Imogen Poots): The older sibling, protective of her brother Andy.
Andy (Mackintosh Muggleton): The younger sibling, vulnerable yet resilient. His unique traits become key to the story’s stakes.
Scarlet (Rose Byrne): A medical researcher with a moral compass, trying to save the kids while grappling with the outbreak’s implications.
Doyle (Jeremy Renner): A military sniper who defies orders to help survivors.
Alice (Catherine McCormack): Don’s wife, whose brief role ties into the family drama and sets off critical events.
Flynn (Harold Perrineau): A helicopter pilot and Doyle’s friend, offering support in tense moments.
