About the Superstition Mountains, there's a legend about a Lost Dutchman’s Mine, that begins with a Dutchman immigrant, named Jacob Waltz who allegedly discovered a gold mine in the late 19th century, but he kept its exact location a secret. Before he died in 1891, he is said to have revealed cryptic clues to a woman named Julia Thomas, but she and later searchers never found the mine.
